Also, Sasha's owner could not afford to worm her nor have her vaccinated. Because of the effects of the stroke, Sasha was not getting walked and was becoming quite boisterous. Sasha had been bred by a known breeder who wasn't interested in her plight, was not prepared to take her back nor help re home her. So much for accountability...

:: Sasha on Arrival to the E&CR of NSW Great Dane Club ::
Enter Denise, a delightful lady who already had two other rescue dogs, albeit little ones. Denise was happy to take in Sasha as long as she would fit in with the existing family unit. She visited Sasha and was horrified by her condition, especially with the acute flea infestation she was having to endure - "Her coat was a moving mass of millions of fleas!”. Her next visit consisted of a good supply of flea treatment and worming tablets!
By the time Denise was able to bring Sasha to her new home, Sasha was quite comfortable around her and was very happy to make herself comfortable in Denise’s car for the trip home. Sasha was immediately at home and very happy to have new playmates around. Denise says she is ‘the best dog’ she has ever owned and will never live without a Dane again! (We could have told her that ages ago!).

:: Sasha - Part of the Family ::
Many thanks to Denise for her hard work, compassion and the hours of preparation she put into making sure Sasha’s transition was a happy one. It’s people like her that make Rescue very worthwhile!
E&CR of NSW Great Dane Club Follow Up Story!
"Sasha gets on well with any dog that comes into the house whether it be large or small. I think this point is good for people to realise, don't you? I know I hesitated getting a Dane because of my small dogs, but since Sasha I know they are just gentle giants. She can be rough but the little ones tell her off, and she accepts it. I never leave them outside together when I'm not home incase she gets too rough, but they sleep together. Here is Sasha with one of her friends; they are sharing a lounge chair". E-mail excerpt from Sasha's new owner, Denise.
