03MAR08 - EMILY HAS FOUND A FOREVER HOME!
Emily is a female Great Dane currently located in Tuggeranong, Canberra (ACT). Emily is an obedient Dane and has a quiet, beautiful nature. She is de sexed and is approximately 8-9 years of age. Emily's current owner is struggling to care for her.
Emily was re homed to her current owner when her previous owner was not caring for her properly and no longer wanted her. Emily's current owner is a single parent and cannot afford her veterinary and feed bills and is concerned that she is not getting what she requires. Unfortunately, Emily has three growths/tumours on her body (they do not bleed or appear to affect her health) although her owners have been unable to afford a veterinary assessment.
Emily is quite thin and is being bothered by flies as her current owner's living conditions will not allow Emily inside the house, although Emily loves being inside and behaves well (except claiming the beds when not watched!). Emily associates well with children and other small dogs.

GISELLE IS STAYING WITH HER ORIGINAL OWNERS!!
Giselle was to be put down on Monday 22nd October 2007, but has since been relocated to a temporary foster home. Giselle is approximately 18 months of age, de sexed, micro chipped and vaccinated. Giselle is a lovely female Dane, but cannot be placed with another Dane bitch.
Giselle is currently fostered with another female Dane, a female Pomeranian, a female Chi and one female cat. Giselle and the other female Dane are fighting on and off for the 'top dog' position. Other times they play happily without any issues. Giselle is an indoor and outdoor Dane and is toilet trained.
UPDATE! 24OCT07 - although in temporary foster care, Giselle is highly traumatised by her current conditions. Giselle cannot be with other
dogs or cats - she is traumatised and terrified of the dogs. However, Giselle is
a fantastic companion to humans, affectionate and trusting. Urgent
foster or permanent home is required asap!
UPDATE! 08NOV07 - Giselle has gone back to her original owners after spending three difficult days
in foster care. Her foster carer owns a lovely seven month old male pup but Giselle
was so traumatised having been beaten up by the previous dog she lived with,
that she couldn't cope even with a puppy near her. Her owners re homed the
other dog, who was the aggressor and took Giselle back. Last report was
she was happy to be back home.
:: OLLE & LILY ::
Posted : Thursday 18th October 2007
REHOMED TOGETHER 27th OCTOBER 2007!
Olle & Lily are located in Mt Victoria in the Blue Mountains, NSW. Olle is a nine year old entire male harlequin Great Dane and Lily is a five year old female Musterland. Olle & Lily have lived together most of their lives & due to Olle's age it is preferable that they are re homed together.
The two dogs have had a particularly emotional time over the last year.
Olle is in good health for his age, although he did get hit in his hind
legs when he was young (sometimes he is a little shaky). Olle is good around other dogs and people. Olle is not the most obedient of Danes as he seeks constant
attention until he gets tired. Olle sleeps inside at night time. Urgent
foster or permanent home is required!
UPDATE! - a last minute reprieve home was found for Olle and Lily! They will have a forever, always
together home in Grong Grong, in the Riverina district.
Thanks to Dee Milthorpe from Mulgadane Kennels who managed to find the home
in her home town of Grong Grong.
:: CYPRUS ::
Posted : Thursday 11th October 2007
REHOMED 15th OCTOBER 2007!
Cyprus is a two and a half year old merle male (de sexed).Cyprus was taken in by
his present owner after being very neglected. However, he has taken
exception to the resident Dane (very old and frail) and is picking on him relentlessly. There is another young Male dane in the residence too, and
other than behaving in a dominating way, he is fine with him.
The main problem is that Cyprus is able to climb over fences. Any
potential home or foster carer must have very solid fencing of around six feet high.
Otherwise, Cyprus is a very affectionate and handsome Dane. He will make a great
companion to a family without any dogs or just a submissive female.
Urgent
foster or permanent home is required! He is located in the Port Stephens.

His owner is moving into an apartment & unfortunately cannot take Ludwig with him. Ludwig is located in Kenthurst, New South Wales. SCOOBY IS STAYING WITH HIS ORIGINAL OWNERS - 19th April 2007!
Scooby is approximately a three year old, black, de sexed male Great Dane. Scooby is great with dogs of all sizes, very gentle & schmoozy. Scooby was found in terrible condition by a young man who has done all the right things & had him de sexed, wormed, vet checked etc & got him back into good condition. Unfortunately, he really can't afford to keep Scooby long term as he is a first year apprentice. Reluctantly, he thinks Scooby would be better off in a home with a family with plenty of time for him. Scooby is located in Maitland, near Newcastle in New South Wales.

SEBASTIAN HAS BEEN REHOMED - 3rd March 2007!
Sebastian is a fawn, three year old de sexed male Dane with no real vices. Sebastian requires re homing as his family have bought a new business & don't have the time they would like to spend with him. Sebastian hasn't spent much time around other dogs, cats or livestock, but was boarding on a property with horses at one stage with no problems. Sebastian is micro chipped & up to date with his vaccinations (including worming). I would recommend an experienced Dane home, as he needs a firm hand when being walked.
:: ROCCO ::
Posted : Monday 12th February 2007
ROCCO HAS BEEN REHOMED - 2nd March 2007!
Rocco is an eight month old male dane. As yet we do not know his colour. Rocco was abandoned on the end of a chain with no food and water. He has been cared for 'very' temporarily by a lady named Kara. Kara can only keep Rocco for approximately another week as she has several kids and cannot afford to feed and properly look after him. Rocco is a well behaved boy, fine with the kids and the dogs he has met. He doesn't like to be left alone, but otherwise just needs lots of hugs and some good care. More information as it becomes available will be posted here.

Lisa is located in SW Sydney & is a three year old de sexed bitch. Lisa is 'grey', I presume merle. She has been mistreated in the past, but is very affectionate with people, especially kids. Lisa really dislikes all small animals (eg. cats, possums & foxes) & has killed all these before. Lisa would be fine with a male Dane. The neighbours want Lisa gone asap as their cats were her victims.

The Eastern & Coastal Region of NSW Great Dane Club would like to thank & recognise the great efforts of our Victorian members for their efforts to identify Great Danes in need & place them into loving homes. The E&CR of NSW Great Dane Club would like to thank the growing re homing network that is currently operating & hope its success continues in the future!
:: MORDI ::
Mordi was found running free along a main road bordering an industrial estate in full season. Unable to ascertain her age, the person who found her carried out a house to house door knock in the area to locate her owner, but with no success.
All vets within a 15 km radius of where Mordi was located, including vet's outside this radius with a known Dane clientele were contacted, as well as all animal pounds. The lady declined to surrender Mordi, electing to keep her until her owner was found. This was made difficult due to Mordi having no microchip! The re homing group contacted known breeders & other Dane club members in the area where Mordi was found. Dane people who owned businesses in the locality, put Mordi's photograph & general information in their window (thank you!).
After several weeks without any queries or someone claiming her, Mordi was re homed with a family in the Dandenong's. Our thanks go to Jenni Casalaz of Danedreamer Great Danes who recommended Mordi after a client had contacted her wanting to buy a puppy. We would like to thank all people involved with Mordi's re homing success!
:: Mordi - re homed & loved! ::
:: PEPE ::
Pepe - an eighteen month old entire dog was owned by people who rented in Lorne, who subsequently moved to Mexico. Prior to leaving, the original owners re homed Pepe on a rural property outside Lorne. The sixteen year old son of the people who owned the rental property, went to visit Pepe in his new environment. He was horrified by Pepe's condition & how he was being kept. He returned home & asked his parents to do something about Pepe's situation.
The parents spoke to the people who had re homed Pepe & ended up taking him home. Unfortunately, these people (who had the best of intentions) did not have any fences. Therefore, Pepe was on a running chain whenever outside. The people realised this was not satisfactory & contacted the Great Dane Club of Victoria. They requested that the club contact the original owner to give permission for the Dane club to re home him & for him to be neutered. Pepe was re homed in Victoria.

:: Pepe - re homed in Victoria ::
:: BELLA ::
Bella was discovered whilst at the Ballarat RSPCA & was due to be euthanised. Jos rang the RSPCA & asked for a delay to enable her to get to Ballarat to see her, but the request was declined. Not satisfied with this, Jos rang the RSPCA Headquarters & was granted two more days - after guaranteeing she would be at the shelter within that time.
Subsequently, Jos purchased Bella & took her home. Bella was later re homed in Sydney. Her new owners have a holiday home in Queensland, so Bella will travel with them when they holiday! Quite a turn around for this girl.

:: Bella - surf & sun to come! ::
:: GRACIE ::
Gracie - a two year old fawn female taken in by a Great Dane Club of Victoria member after having been re homed a few months earlier. They were having problems with Gracie & their other dog.
On top of this, Gracie was found to be malnourished & covered in fleas - spending most of her time locked in a tin garage. Gracie's evaluation proved her to be good with other GDCV member's dogs, good with children, but possibly just a bit too interested in cats!
Gracie was micro chipped, therefore allowing contact to Gracie's original owners (who had surrendered her reluctantly). Gracie's prior owner found herself pregnant with twins, giving her five children under the age of five years. She felt that Gracie deserved more attention than what she was receiving .This lady confirmed Gracie's placid temperament & arranged to change her microchip details. Gracie was re homed through the E&CR of NSW Great Dane Club to Sydney. She was transported via road to her new home & her new owner is delighted with her. She now enjoys the company of a handsome black male Dane, who had also been rescued.
Gracie is such a sweetheart & has traveled well from Victoria to Sydney. Gracie has settled in very well with her owners.

:: Gracie - good with dogs & children! ::
:: ZEDD ::
Zedd, a young entire fawn male was surrendered by his very elderly owner to the Lort Smith Dog Home. Zedd was NOT micro chipped but Jenni Casalaz was able to locate his breeder in Queensland. Jenni contacted the breeder to inform her of Zedd's situation. Zedd was secured at the Lort Smith Dog Home by credit card details. His plight was explained to six couples wishing to take a rescue Dane. Zedd was sent by the Lort Smith Dog Home for some training & was later re homed with a couple in Victoria.

:: Zedd - his plight was heard! ::
:: ADA ::
The Great Dane Club of Victoria was contacted by an owner that decided they were unable to keep a sixteen week old brindle girl. When asked about returning Ada to her breeder, they advised that they had purchased her from a pet shop! Jenni Casalaz offered to come & pick Ada up (as Jos had kindly offered to house her) but they declined saying they would keep her until the GDCV had found a new home.
They were advised the GDCV did not have anyone wanting to take a sixteen week puppy at the present time.The owner rang several times in the next few days asking if the club had found a new home & how long it would take - as they they needed Ada gone. They were given the details of Save a Dog, who subsequently took Ada, who was adopted the following day!
